Lester "Les" Laron Jones, Sr.

 


Lester Laron Jones Sr., affectionately known as Les, passed away on June 29, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 61. Born on May 21, 1963, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Les grew into a disciplined and mild-mannered individual, known for his unforgettable smile and infectious laugh.


Les had a distinguished career as a Corrections Officer, working at Gateway, Albion, and the Erie Community Correctional Facility. He was also a self-defense trainer and a respected figure at Erie CCC. His passion for teaching extended into the martial arts, where he was known as "Master Jones" at TKO, under the guidance of Chief Instructor Master Arrington.


A devout believer, Les worshipped at Victory Christian Center alongside his mother, Mrs. Louise Jones. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing strength and comfort through his battles with health issues.Les's hobbies were as vibrant as his career. He began practicing Taekwondo and Kickboxing at a young age, traveling globally to compete and garnering many trophies and plaques. Les also enjoyed a stint as a fashion model in his younger years, showcasing his diverse talents and impeccable sense of style.


Les leaves behind his wife, Melinda Williams Jones, and a loving family including his daughter: Alexis Stearns , and sons Lester Jones Jr., Joseph Jones, Torion Jones, Kyree Jones, Idris Bash, Kresson Britt, step-children Tomaj' Tate and Tae'ya Williams. He is also survived by his brothers Lamont Jones, Scott (Kristen) Jones, David Morris, Mitchell Jones, a special cousin Ms. Marie Owens, Uncle Freddie (Sarah) Johnson, and his thirteen grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Vanessa Norton Booker a life long friend, and many others will also miss his legacy. Les was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Louise Jones, brother Larry Jones, and relatives Uncle William Johnson and Aunt Charlice Walters.Services to honor Les's life will be held at Victory Christian Center Cathedral of Erie INC, located at 1129 Pennsylvania Ave. Erie, PA 16503 on Saturday July 6, 2024. The Viewing will be at 11 am and the funeral service will proceed at 1 pm. Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, INC., located in Erie, PA, is assisting the family during this time. Les's legacy of kindness, discipline, and love will forever be cherished by those who knew him. 


A special heartfelt thanks to Gracious Living Adult Day Center, Huntersville, NC for all their love and support going above and beyond making Les last years full of joy, love and laughter. Mr. And Mrs. Allgood, nurse Melissa and all of the nurses & staff you are a blessing and make life so meaningful to those battling health problems throughout their life.
